Engr. Ben Akak disclosed this during an interaction with over five hundred (500) coordinators of the Ben Akak support groups in Calabar. He stated clearly that his ambition was to serve the people of Cross River State and not be served. According to him, “We came to serve and not to be served. That is why we submit to the decision of the party. If we came to be served, we would have played politics. We play godly politics where decency, sincerity and truthfulness are our priorities. Our course was not to come, use and dump the people but to serve diligently and build a legacy that will outlive us.”

The former aspirant thanked everyone for their unflinching support and doggedness throughout the period of his consultations. In his statement, “I acknowledge everyone's sacrifices and support spiritually, physically and in all ramifications. I strive to build a friendship that is beyond politics and that is what I have done.”

He also cleared the notion that he interns to defect to another political party and reiterated his loyalty to the party’s decision on the candidacy of Prince Bassey Otu. According to him, “for those of us that were expecting to hear something different that probably we will move to a new party, we are still intact and we honour the party. We lose today to gain tomorrow. We stand firmly and wholeheartedly by the party’s decision as it (the party) is supreme.”

“I belong to APC. I have resolved to follow the party’s decision to the end. My supporters and I are steadfast, devoted and faithful to the party. I have made up my mind like I said in the congratulatory message that we will support Prince Bassey Otu's candidacy. We stand by our words and we honour our words. It is on this note that I collapse my structure to support Prince Bassey Otu as the choice of the party.” He added.

He appealed to all his supporters to unequivocally lay their total supports to the activities of the APC party and assured those who have stood by him of their rewards from God as he cannot reward them accordingly.
