Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has used the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary to roll out a scorecard of sweeping reforms and achievements, declaring that Kaduna is turning vision into action with roads, markets, schools, healthcare, agriculture, and peacebuilding projects redefining governance in the state.

In a statewide broadcast themed “Together We Are Overcoming, Together We Are Rising,” the Governor said the anniversary is not just about commemoration but about proving that resilience, justice, and inclusion can transform society.

Highlighting infrastructure as the “engine of development,” Sani disclosed that his administration has launched 85 road projects covering 785km, with nearly half completed to ease trade, reduce travel time, and connect communities. “We are rebuilding bridges, utilities, and urban roads to stimulate investment and raise living standards,” he said.

On agriculture and rural transformation, he noted that 500,000 hectares of abandoned farmland have been reclaimed, while the reopening of strategic markets such as Birnin Gwari Livestock Market and Kidandan Market in Giwa has reawakened commerce and boosted rural confidence. Over 10% of Kaduna’s 2025 budget has been allocated to agriculture — the highest in recent years — to secure food production and climate-smart farming.

Education and health, the Governor stressed, remain pillars of his administration’s human capital drive. Through the Reaching Out-of-School Children Project, over 10,728 children have returned to classrooms, while 535 schools previously shut due to insecurity have been reopened. In healthcare, 255 Primary Health Centres have been upgraded, ensuring rural dwellers have access to life-saving services.

The Governor also listed the commissioning of three world-class vocational institutes as part of his youth and women empowerment agenda, equipping thousands with marketable skills to thrive in the new economy.

On peacebuilding, he said Kaduna has deepened investment in community policing, reconciliation, and dialogue, supporting victims of conflict and strengthening inter-faith and inter-communal trust. “Justice, equity, and inclusion are the cornerstones of our governance approach,” Sani declared.

Positioning Kaduna within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Governor assured that the state is aligning with federal reforms to entrench prosperity, peace, and inclusive democratic governance.

“As Nigeria turns 65, Kaduna is standing tall as a model of resilience, progress, and renewed hope,” Sani said, urging citizens to commit to unity, civic participation, and shared responsibility in building a stronger nation.
