Abuja, Nigeria – In a surprising move, the outgoing Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has taken to Twitter to endorse the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming general elections.
In his tweet, President Buhari stated that he is not a contestant in the forthcoming election, but his party, APC, has a capable candidate in Tinubu. He called on all Nigerians to vote for the former Lagos State Governor, who he described as reliable and a true believer in Nigeria.
“I am calling on all of you to vote for @officialABAT. He is reliable, a true believer in Nigeria, and he will build on our achievements,” the tweet read.
Tinubu, a prominent politician in Nigeria, has been touted as one of the favorites to succeed Buhari as president. He is widely regarded as the political godfather of Lagos state, and his influence has extended to other parts of the country.
